How to Set Up Your Bike

A good RIDE starts with the right setup.

Whether it’s your first spin class or you’ve been riding with us for years, taking a minute to properly set up your bike can make a big difference in how you feel in class.

01

START WITH YOUR SEAT HEIGHT

Stand beside the bike and bring the seat to approximately hip height. Once you’re on the bike, you should have a slight bend in your knee at the bottom of your pedal stroke.

02

CHECK YOUR SEAT POSITION

Your seat moves forward and backward too. Once you’re clipped in with your pedals level, your front knee should sit roughly over the centre of your foot.

03

SET YOUR HANDLEBARS

If you’re new to indoor cycling, start with your handlebars a little higher. As you get more comfortable on the bike, you can lower them to a position that feels right for you. You should be able to reach the handlebars comfortably without stretching or putting too much weight into your hands.

04

CLIP IN

Line up the cleat on the bottom of your cycling shoe with the pedal and press down until you feel it click into place. It might take a couple of tries at first. If you’re riding with us, just ask. We’ll get you clipped in.

05

MAKE IT YOURS

Bike setup isn’t one-size-fits-all. These are your starting points, but small adjustments can make a big difference. Once you find a setup that feels good, take note of your numbers so you can set up your bike the same way for your next RIDE.
