RIDE OR DIE | HUNTER, INSTRUCTOR
Meet Hunter: a Vancouver and RIDE EXT Instructor who brings her passion, motivation, and powerhouse song selection to every one of her classes. Whether you’ve had the opportunity to RIDE with Hunter in the studio or on RIDE EXT, we’re sure she’s left you feeling inspired.
Where did you grow up?
Mississauga, ON.
Can you remember your first RIDE class?
It was a Drake Theme with Tommy Cole. It was SO FAST but also such a blast.
How long did it take before you realized you wanted to become an Instructor?
As soon as I entered the fitness scene, this was a goal of mine. To me, RIDE Instructors were the top athletes and instructors in the city.
Describe your teaching style.
Athletic, fun, and sweaty. It’s a powerful party, anyone and everyone is welcome.
Best part of being an Instructor is…
Getting to engage with and be inspired by our community every day.
Track you’ve had on repeat?
Anything London Grammar…
AM or PM RIDES?
AM, you will never see me past 6:00 pm…
Favourite way to sweat outside of RIDE?
Getting outside. Hiking, Skiing, Cycling, Running, mostly suntanning…
How has becoming a RIDE Instructor changed you?
The challenges we’ve faced this past year, have made me realize how much gratitude I have for RIDE. I’ve always loved teaching and teaching spin, but in the absence of our community in the space, the adaptability we’ve displayed, the innovation of this team, I have so much gratitude. In the face of adversity, RIDE has proven to be stronger than ever. It’s in our riders, and it is in us, so it’s also taught me to be proud of us and our resilience.
Who motivates you?
Our community. Over and over.
Favourite book?
Right now, Three Women by Lisa Taddeo.
What’s your #1 life hack?
I don’t have any hacks! I think 2020 showed us there are no hacks, escape routes, or fast lanes. Take it all in – the good, the bad, and the best. Lay on the floor with people’s dogs, sweat a lot, get into nature, drink expensive coffee and wine, and eat pizza.
Where can we find you on a Saturday afternoon in the city?
Outside. On a mountain, or a patio.
Any hidden or not-so-hidden talents?
Dancing, making salad dressing from scratch, and waking up without a hangover.
If you could brunch with any person (past or present), who would it be and why?
Given the times, anyone and everyone. All my birds from Ontario. All of my family. Everyone I can fit around one table.
Best memory since you joined RIDE?
Michael’s Christmas party speech (2019), training in Calgary with Ashley (right before the pandemic), Brooke and I riding my EXT RIDE on my birthday in 2020 and, my first day on the squad – Lululemon Seawheeze 2019.
#1 piece of advice for someone looking to have a killer RIDE?
Let the room and the people in it inspire you instead of intimidating you. When you let go, the ride will catch you.
What has you stoked on life right now?
I am getting a dog… it’s time and will be the best day of my life!
What does RIDE mean to you?
Everything. We give everything we’ve got to make RIDE what it is, and we get it back from our community tenfold. It means everything.
